Mary, who has been accustomed to the proper British English that she was raised with in India is enchanted by this dialect and often tries to mimic the way her crush Dickon Sowerby speaks. It is about a girl who looses her father (Captin Crewe) and has to go from being treated like a princess, to being treated like a scullery maid.

The reader gets to watch mary developed in a great new way and the challenges that come with it. i love her reading, her accent, her yorkshire's, and her singing.
