The over-analytical in me questions the plausibility of Ji Yeon even considering such a proposal. It reads like a ham-fisted attempt to appeal to British twenty-something Carrie Bradshaw wannabbees. I liked the romance a lot, even if there was some misunderstanding in there. After reading this follow-up story, it made me want to go … ‧

This was a nice and quaint read, even if a bit long-winded. Her sister is fellow writer, SOLVED Nice British girl, somewhat of a free spirit, meets hero's grandmother at gallery in NY. Alex and Henry must pretend to be best friends, giving the tabloids pictures of their bromance and neutralizing the threat to Ellen's presidency.
At an art show Sophie helps an elderly lady who is about to faint, the elderly woman, Matilda, turns out to be fabulously wealthy, befriends Sophie and invites her to spend Thanksgiving with her and her family at her mansion in Connecticut. I intentionally picked this book because I've been reading a lot of crime/psychological thrillers lately and I wanted something less intense, a palette cleanser. Jenny Colgan
This was a really lovely book, my only issue is that I didn't liked that it took a lot of time for Sophie and Luke to make up after the misunderstanding.
The story is pretty bland (not much happens plot-wise) and yet the heroine is engaging (if a bit young) and you find yourself rooting for her HEA. A great combination of Chick-Lit and Romance, as well as a great read for teens and adults alike. Refresh and try again.
I made the mistake of starting this last night and then pushing on the "just one more chapter" button one too many times and finishing the whole thing in one long night.

Sophie is undeterred by his rudeness and spends a lovely final week in America at Matilda’s mansion before she heads back to waiting tables and, of course, doing that favor for Matilda. In the end, things don't go as planned but I think it makes it that much sweeter when she says yes! This is a shame, as Sophie is a charmer, and real relationship problems (their differences in class, wealth, values) would have created a far richer romance if there were real jeopardy to the happiness. Women is in line for big promotion and nephew who gave said opportunity up 5 yrs previously comes back because he's changed his mind. Couldn't wait to get the new one - but - I couldn't FORCE myself to read it.
I also loved the descriptions of so many different sites and the history behind them. Great thinking outside of the box! The young heroine, Sophie is a child being sent on one errand or another throughout the book by anyone who happens to need or want her services. Making the shift from milestone-based reviews to criteria-based reviews can mitigate the time management issues.

Looked down on for neither being intellectual nor artistic, she 'merel' cooks, cleans and generally looks after her father, mother and brother whilst also holding down a number of odd jobs (mainly waitressing and bar work), helping out others less fortunate and designing/altering clothes in her spare time. Katie Fforde has the magical gift of engaging the reader from the first page, drawing you into the everyday lives of her characters, and keeping you there happily throughout almost 400 pages.
