I'd seen a bit of Fable played before but had never heard of GW, it just looked cool. It doesn’t have high dps, but it has utility and is, I’m dead serious, one of thief’s best weapons, If you want to practice for doing endgame content, use dagger/pistol or sword/dagger (they’re the 2 load outs of PvP, for endgame PvE, you’ll use daredevil staff or deadeye rifle.
Dad wasn't into games at all "I'm too stupid to play them." Check lord hizen in YouTube.
THEN came the announcement for GW2 and damn was I hyped for it, I'd talk to my friends and basically anyone who would listen about the characters I wanted to make, which weapons I would use and all the places from GW I was looking forward to visiting and exploring again.
I think I made a big manly bald headed Warrior as my first character, with pecs like concrete slabs and arms like tree trunks and gods was I bad at the game. Got over 100 bags in the first half hour.
Mace skill 2/3 also damage multiple targets. Grenade kit: slower than the flamethrower but should work.
I got a few irl friends into the game around the time that Nightfall came out as well, and we'd play it a lot together.
In combat and don’t want to be? Last updated July 2020.
But in group focused pve endgame content there is one ''good'' build for necro and its the condi damage scourge. Raid Builds Leaders. This build is a variation on a common theme of minion master Reaper, providing obscene survivability while still dealing enough damage that encounters don't get annoying. P/P for core IMO Deadeye is the best due to mobility + quickness from Mark + bouncing arrow from Shortbow. Necromancers are tanky because they have a 2nd health bar via life force, and Scourge has tons of barrier spam + long range + low cooldown condi conversion, etc. Are any of the classes viable for Dungeons and general PvE using only vanilla specs? Well in GW2 we lay bare to raids every week, but only on Tuesdays (for now), as we grow our strength we will take on more week days, with organized training days for new players.
Axe + torch + traps: high cleave/aoe, traps for doors Staff Druid + traps.
The only caveat is that you need to make sure you always have a clear shot at your target as other enemies can intercept you bullets. Necro is pretty strong in pvp and wvw but i dont really play those game modes.
Detonate creates 4 bombs, each of which can hit 3 targets and its very spammable. You can plow through pretty much anything and solo most group events with this build, and it practically plays itself. Out of combat? Mobility is lacking but then that doesn't matter as much with mounts. /u/jnsv posted suggested builds for each & every profession/elite, so that there's something for everyone, regardless of how new or which expansions are unlocked. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts, VERY fast holosmithing at incredible hihg speed. Spellbreaker on the other hand is very tanky with Full Counters giving high evade uptime, traited offhand dagger gives massive sustain through critting, and Spellbreaker has the only source of protection available on the warrior profession, via traited Full Counter. Staff, lots of AoE which should make for good tagging. Guild Wars is less about classic tankiness than it is about active damage mitigation. Couldn't tell you what works well in PvP, I'm mainly a PvE player, but those four all do very well in the environments listed. Please keep in mind that this post is aimed at finding a working build for everyone, not the optimal build out of the bunch (I'm pretty sure everyone agrees that's either Flamethrower Engi, Lootbook Firebrand or SB Thief). You’re level 34 and doing open world content. Some context I’ve played Guild Wars 2 on and off since launch SUPER casually, I’ve recently come back to the game with a new found appreciation for the world and story but am too stubborn to buy the expansions until I complete the base story and living worlds. Plus other buffs (bartender, boosters, enrichment)? TL;DR Play whatever you want in solo play/open world.
In group pve condi scourge is good on some fights but expect groups to want you to switch classes for other bosses.
In PvP the most tanky players I see use bunker builds to hold capture points. Shortbow will ALWAYS be your second weapon set. In general terms there's only 4 kind of gear stats demanded for high end PvE content in this game: berserker, which counts for ~80% of the dps builds, viper (the other 10%, dps builds albeit sometimes is balanced with sinister or grieving) harrier (the 5%, best current combo stats for a pure healer) and diviner (best combo for a support). Revenant can't be decent as well but off the top of the head I'm not sure which build but it uses the dwarf and a healing build. You’re level 34 and doing open world content. One important aspect of this: Better patch notes.
Plain and simply. Are you in a squad? Hopefully I am misreading this but you are playing a power reaper and you need something chunkier? All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Swap targets often. It's definitely not the highest dps but its fun to play. By using our Services or clicking I agree, you agree to our use of cookies. Press J to jump to the feed. FT is too short range for tagging between doors, and at doors you tag as well with forge 1/mortar kit/discharges. I remember finishing the tutorial area and seeing Ascalon get destroyed by the Charr (Spoiler alert for something that happened 15 years ago) and then asking in chat how to get back to how it was before the Searing.
And when you factor it is also has to compete with power builds like weaver it can be clear why you dont see necros on many bosses. Please keep in mind I'll be starting with only auction house exotic gear and will work my way up to ascended along the way. The other elite specialization, Scourge, is the dominant Necro setup across all game modes. You will reset your cooldown real fast by marking targets with the amount of enemies dying everywhere. So back in 2005 or so my dad took me to a game store and said I could pick a game but not one that's too expensive. 50 is minimum as you're learning; 100 minimum once you get the hang of things.
4. 3. Fallen Max Nika Maintained by Harry If you're interested in helping out with this project, no matter how small (or big), please contact me on discord. I completely respect your decision and don’t want to blame you at all for it, but in the reddit thread linked above you mention that you did not plan to take it down but nobody will be maintaining the builds … I like to have a little bit of everything when it comes to mmos even though GW2 is glorious and allows for any character to fill any role. Open world content in the core maps (so, not the heart of thorns and path of fire expansions) are designed to be easy enough that you can use whatever weapons and skills and traits you want and still be able to kill things and complete hearts and have fun. I'm not familiar with the meta, but I know Scrapper has access to some insane defensive abilities, and if the incoming damage pressure and cc becomes too much they have access to stun breaks and stealth to get out of a jam. Are they zigging & zagging through the maze between doors? I'm usng one of the better builds listed above and farmed only a stack of bags in 6 hours. More AoE with wells. In addition, it provides a massive amount of might to you and allies around you. PvE World events: Magi's support gear with the Scourge elite spec. What other choice do I have? Holosmith spec is the best one for bosses. @evilsofa.7296 said: Pretty much any class can be built to be a Tank. Close second is Dragonhunter with lots of traps and Engi with flamethrower and bombs. Sigil of Speed (minutes of swiftness makes it easier to keep up).
Power? When the 30 minutes runs out, count your ToTs. I had my own guild and eventually found out that some of my guildies were roleplayers, so we started throwing some in-character stuff into the mix while we played and made our own storylines. People seem to like staff Daredevil over DE, Dagger/Warhorn Tempest: skill 1 for tagging and F3 at doors. After having run with several groups in the Labyrinth today, it seems to me that class and build are no longer relevant. Flamethrower kit: the most recommended option, for both engi and lab in general. The specifics of your build will vary depending on what mode you're looking to play, but Scourge with a scepter and torch (plus a staff in PvP and WvW) is usually a safe place to start. I was about 13 at the time. Is the commander waiting at each door for everyone to arrive? Support Scourge's excellent survivability, wide-ranging heals / barriers and unmatched ability to revive downed allies make it ideal for meta events and bounties where people often get one-shotted by the boss.
We weren't well off so we stuck to pre-owned and bargain bucket games. Press J to jump to the feed. PvE Open world exploration: Berserker power gear with the Reaper elite spec. I've met a hell of a lot of people through GW and GW2, made some long lasting friendships with quite a few people who I am still friends with and speak to regularly to this day, and I've lost a few friends in that time as well. My dad passed four months ago. Condition damage? Otherwise most necro are tanky as well as guardian and warrior. Love it since HoT release. So thanks dad, I love you old man. I'm somewhat of an altaholic(all classes to 80), and as much fun as it is to spin to win with a power Reaper, I was wondering if someone can guide me towards a more chunky fella or maybe a build(any class) with a great deal of survival. Welcome to /r/GuildWars2 where we strive to be a place where you can share your Guild Wars 2 experiences and partake in discussions with players from around the world. what do you play?
I've had my fallings-out with the game as well and taken a few extended breaks. Core accounts ok. In Raids the Tank's focus is on positioning the boss properly while simultaneously providing additional value to the group through boons, buffs, CC for breakbars, pulls for adds, or healing.
I can't remember which game I played first but when I did play GW I was instantly drawn in. Anyway, I played that game almost religiously at first, and I never really got much better, I didn't understand meta builds or endgame, I could barely even finish the story missions half the time. Read the other comments so far. D/d and p/p will probably be the most survivable, then sw/anything, then d/p as the most squishy (when you’re not used to it). From experience, the best build is staff tempest.
Those are the builds that stand out in my mind as being useful. O_o. @Xenon.4537 said: I use DE with collateral dmg/payback/bqobk SB/PP. Everything dies, and you are untouchable.
That and remembering the labyrinth's rule: if it moves it must die. D/D Air Staff with Fire + Earth and Glyph of Storms can do just fine too', Firebrand 'lootbook': F1 tome + skill 1, with Renewed Justice.
